Cabin hooks are designed to hold doors open. With the hook engaged in the eye, the door is well secured in place. The part consists of two brackets, one with an articulated link and hook, the other a simple eyelet. Traditionally, the hook is fastened to the bulkhead or skirting board and the eyelet is fixed to corresponding area on the door. 4x 3.5mm (No.6) countersunk screws are required for the installation. This particular model of cabin hook is available in three hook sizes: 60mm, 80mm and 100mm.
The cabin hook is pressure die cast by Foresti & Suardi in Italy and is available in natural unlacquered brass or chrome plated brass. Foresti & Suardi have been manufacturing pressure die cast brass marine hardware since 1961. Fittings such as this cabin hook are amongst the core products manufactured since those early days. The tooling may have been updated and technology has moved on a great deal, but these are the heritage pieces that established the reputation of Foresti & Suardi, as well as Timage, in the global yacht accessories market.
