Timage offers a wide range of hinges, many falling in to the ‘standard’ categories you might see in a chandlery or hardware store. Need hinges for a door, cupboard, table leaf….? We have that covered. Looking for something to suit a ‘less-standard’ application….? A chart locker lid, a bureau compartment, a glass shower screen? We have those too.
Mostly you consider the function first; what surfaces you are fixing to, what arc the opening part needs. You might typically consider the environment of use but that’s less of an issue with Timage as of course, all our products are marine-grade; made to be outdoors or often immersed in sea water.
You can elect to make the installation discreet by setting a hinge into the surrounding surfaces. This usual makes for a higher quality solution. Although this adds some labour time, it is worth it to save stubbing toes on a floor hatch or making a surface hard to clean.
Another important area to show off build quality is carpentry. We sell teak tables and chairs but also supply the parts to let manufacturers achieve the same quality in their own bespoke solutions. A folding teak table can be the focal point to a patio, terrace café or restaurant and the humble hinge can be an important part of the finished article.
Clearly a hinge needs to have a quality action, finish and to be set flush and prevent upsets to the tableware. Further support can be added to hold folding leaves or articulated extension panels by using our telescopic support arms. These ensure a hinge is not overstretched but importantly allows for occasional over-loads when that annoying friend starts banging on the table during an after-dinner debate. Remember we also have the means to position and fix table solutions, with options for changing the height during use.
There are times however when you really need something special, when the quality of the hinge really dictates the performance and satisfaction of the outcome. One such hinge type to deliver the goods is our range of Spider Hinges.
Most probably so named due to the form of their legs [sometimes even having 8 of them!], these hinges give a superbly stable and strong action. Made in Italy from top-grade AISI 316 stainless steel, they are the results of patented design, Finite Element Method [FEM] analysis and incredibly accurate manufacturing. To reinforce the point made regarding quality, all pivots are set within bronze bushes for optimum longevity.
Spider hinges come in a range of sizes with various gauges of lever arm to lift hatches from 20kg to a huge 420kg [based on a 600 x 600mm hatch size]. They can be mounted vertically or horizontally and will open up to 180 degrees and can also feature an automatic locking pin to retain the open position safely. This saves the need to fit gas struts or support stays and their brackets.
An added advantage of the Spider Hinge is that no hinge is seen once the hatch is closed, leaving much cleaner designs. It is often more costly to contrive the installation of hatches with dedicated cut outs to metal, fibreglass or decking. These all leave a rather messy look.
